In 2025, Polaroid introduced the third generation of its signature instant cameras — Polaroid Now Gen 3 and Polaroid Now+ Gen 3 . These models are a logical continuation of the popular series. Enough time has passed for users to try out the new cameras, and we’ve given our honest review of them.
Image Improvement
One of the key updates in Gen 3 is the improved photo quality. Thanks to updated sensors, optimized placement of the light meter, and an enhanced autofocus system with two lenses, the images are now sharper, with more accurate color reproduction and less prone to overexposure. These changes finally resolved the overexposed shots issue in the Now+ version.

In the Now version, the light meter was moved to the same position as the Now+ Gen 3 , improving not only the photo quality but also making the camera compatible with filters that were previously only available for the Now+ version.
Design and Materials
The Gen 3 cameras have maintained their signature recognizable design, but now they are even more similar. Previously, the Now+ models had a square flash, which immediately distinguished the camera and the corresponding label on the camera. Now both models have an identical design (except for the colors), and they can only be differentiated by the button. In the Now version, the button controls the timer, while in the Now+ version, it manages the Bluetooth connection.
Color Palette
Polaroid offers a wide range of colors: Now Gen 3 is available in six new shades:
- Black
- Retro White
- White / Coral
- White / Purple
- White / Yellow
- White / Arctic Blue

Now+ Gen 3 is available in four colors:
- Black
- White
- Coral
- Arctic Blue

Both versions charge via USB-C and are compatible with Polaroid i-Type and 600 film cartridges.
Cons
Despite the significant improvements, there are still some downsides that might negatively affect buyers' decisions, including:
- Worsened plastic quality — the new generation cameras are made from 40% recycled materials, which is great for the environment, but the quality of the new plastic feels much thinner, and some users have already noted this.
- Lack of filters in the Now+ — previously, all Now+ cameras came with a set of color filters, but now they are no longer included in the package. Instead, they can be purchased separately.
- No charging cable — aside from the filters, neither camera comes with a charging cable, which is quite inconvenient, especially if you don’t already have a USB-C cable.
Conclusion
Polaroid Now and Now+ Gen 3 have become noticeably better — the Now+ issue has been solved, and the newer design has been unified. However, the simplified packaging and cheaper plastic might disappoint some users. Now Gen 3 is perfect for those who want simplicity, while Now+ Gen 3 is for those looking for more creative freedom, but are willing to buy accessories separately.
