The Secret to Great Polaroid Photos

Tricks for Taking Great Polaroid Photos

  • Store Your Film Properly – Before use, keep film packs in the fridge or a cool place, flat side up. Before shooting, let the pack warm to room temperature for the best results.
  • Light is Key – Bright light and vibrant colors make for stunning Polaroid shots. Always shoot in good lighting and use the flash. Pro tip: Portraits and group photos look more striking against a colorful background.
  • Position Your Light Right – Whether using natural or studio light, always keep the light source behind or beside you❗️Shooting against the light can make photos appear blurry or underexposed.
  • Hold the Camera Steady – If it’s bright, the shutter opens briefly. If it’s dark, it stays open longer, making it easier to get blurry shots. Keep the camera stable, especially in low light.
  • Use the Flash – In 99% of cases, flash improves your photo, so don’t be afraid to turn it on!
  • Be Patient with Development – Black & white photos take 5–10 minutes, while color photos need 10–15 minutes to fully develop. While waiting, keep the photo warm and shielded from light—placing it in your pocket works great!
  • Protect Your Photos – To prevent fading and color shifts, avoid direct sunlight and store your pictures in a cool, dark place❗️
  • Keep Your Camera Clean – Polaroid cameras use two metal rollers to spread chemicals evenly. Over time, dust and excess chemistry can build up. Regularly check the rollers and wipe them down with a damp cloth to keep your shots perfect.

Got it? Now go experiment!
