Orion Carloto. Film For Her

Orion Carloto – an American writer and director who became famous for her unique style and deep emotional expression in literature and visual art. Combining photography and her personal emotions, she creates an aesthetic image of her life.

Conquering the romantic worldview where every frame and line of poetry becomes an honest dialogue with the reader, Orion opens the most intimate moments of her existence.

Film in the Author’s Life

All illustrations in the book were created on 35mm film, which gives them a special atmosphere and depth. In her book Film For Her, Orion uses film photos to convey the mood, emotions, and atmosphere of each episode in her life. Orion’s parents photographed important moments of her childhood, teaching her to value memories. She describes this in many of the book's poems.

“The essence of Film For Her is that the photographs were the main focus.” – the author tells Office magazine. “When I got my first film camera, I was very careful about taking those 36 shots.”

Book: Film For Her

Her poetry book Film For Her, published in 2020, serves as an emotional diary where Orion shares her experiences, thoughts, and memories in the form of poems and photographs.

The book contains 52 works: classic poems, songs, ballads, haikus, notes, and personal thoughts. They are divided into periods of Orion's life in her native Georgia, travels to France, Italy, and Portugal. Film For Her is not just a collection of poems; it is a blend of text and visual art, where each poem is accompanied by pictures taken with a film camera. All the illustrations in the book were created on 35mm film, adding them a special atmosphere and depth. Film photographs convey a sense of nostalgia, a unique moment that cannot be recreated. They complement the texts, adding new dimensions to them.
