How to get the maximum result from a Polaroid cassette?

Tip #1
Proper storage of the cassette ensures that chemical processes remain stable, allowing photos to retain details, vibrant colors, and contrast for as long as possible. Remember to store cassettes in a cool environment at a temperature of 4-18°C. Never freeze the cassette! It will not function properly at lower temperatures. Before shooting, let the cassette sit for an hour to return to normal temperature.

Tip #2
All cassettes should be used within 12 months from the date of manufacture (you can find the date on the cassette packaging). After expiration, the cassette will still work, but results may be unpredictable.

Tip #3
To distribute the chemistry between the negative and positive parts of the photo, the image passes through two rollers inside your camera. If they are dirty, the chemicals won’t spread evenly. We recommend regularly checking and cleaning your camera’s rollers.

Tip #4
Most cassettes have the correct light sensitivity and do not require exposure compensation. This includes 600 and I-type cassettes. The exception is SX-70—the current generation of this cassette has a slightly higher ISO. We recommend adjusting the exposure wheel towards the darker side when shooting in bright or well-lit conditions. If you are using the built-in flash, make sure the exposure wheel or slider is set to the middle position.

Tip #5
The cassette works best at temperatures between 13-28°C, and we do not recommend shooting in temperatures that fall significantly outside this range. Photos taken in freezing conditions tend to be overexposed, have a blue tint, and lack contrast. In cold weather, keep your camera warm—close to your body—to maintain the cassette and camera at an optimal working temperature. At temperatures above 28°C, photos may develop a yellow-red tint. In this case, keep the cassette cool, but avoid moisture.

Tip #6
Remember that Polaroid cassettes remain light-sensitive even after the photo exits the camera. Protect the photo from direct sunlight by placing it face down on a table, in a pocket, or inside an empty cassette box. This will help achieve a richer and sharper image.

Tip #7
Store developed photos away from direct sunlight at normal room temperature. For long-term storage, consider getting a photo album.
